A new program of preventing the breakout of cholera in the urban areas of Kampala was launched by AMMICALL (Alliance of Mayors’ initiative for Community Action on AIDS at the Local Level ) at Imperial Royale Kampala on 29-Jun-2016 where IML will be a partner. IML will support this initiative by providing health talks to the communities and also contribute to the donation of SATO pans to some families.
This occasion was graced by His Lordship the mayor of Kampala City, Mr. Elias Lukwago.
On this occasion, AMICAALL Uganda also launched the Fast Track Cities Initiative Campaign report. The campaign was supported by UNAIDS and it was carried out in five municipalities of Hoima, Entebbe, Jinja, Soroti, Lira and Kampala Capital City Authority. The Mayors of the respective municipalities reached 5,935 people with HIV and other health services with 3000 people tested for HIV, 350 people circumcised, 350 women screened for Cervical cancer, 550 people accessed eMTCT services, 85 units of safe blood collected, 900 children immunized, 360 people received long term family planning methods, and over 350,000 condoms were distributed.
