Job description for Medical Officer to Head IML Medical Services Department.
The interested candidate should be ready to work both in a fast growing Health Insurance Firm.
Background
The Head of Medical Services will report to the General Manager of International Medical
Link (IML) and ensure efficient means of operations within the crucial Medical services
Department.
Roles
- Spear head planning, Directing and Coordination day today activities of the
department - Develop budgets and reports and communicate to various stakeholders as required
on behalf of IML or the department - Perform regular monitoring and audits of the departments operations to ensure
efficiency, growth and development of IML Medical Services - Negotiate for better pricing and working relations with Health Service
Providers/Hospitals within the network to ensure low claim rates. - Establish policies, procedures and routine activities required for efficient operation of
the department in consultation with the General Manager - Establish control measures along with all relevant stakeholders to control medical
insurance fraud - Create opportunities to sensitize clients and hospitals on effective usage and best
practices of the medical insurance policy - Attend / organize in internal and external Continuous Medical Education (CME)
- Review claims submitted by hospitals in the network and recommend payment for
their claims - Coordinate with the rest of the medical team to ensure selected IML patients are
visited to for purposes monitoring claims costs and improving customer experience. - Resolve potential and active customer care complaints under the jurisdiction of the
Medical Services Department. - Supervise operations of the Medical Services Department at IML including
supervising junior staff.
Requirements
- Proven work experience of at least 3 years in a clinical works or a client focused
medical services work environment. - Knowledge of common medical challenges and solutions in the Medical field and
service industry - Solid understanding of healthcare procedures, ethics and regulations
- Customer care skills and practices
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to supervise and train team members
- Problem-solving skills and attitude
- BS degree in Medicine with a postgraduate qualification in Management and
Administration, Business Management, Public health or relevant field a strong added
advantage - Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail
- Integrity, with an ability to handle staff and stakeholders professionally.
- Ability to commit to a full time job
